What to expect at The Foxberry Inn, and in Provincetown this summer
Updated May 22,2020
We are eager to see you here in Provincetown! We are reopening for the 2020 season on June 18th. We have been working hard to ensure that we meet or exceed all guidelines for safety and wellness. We have always prided ourselves on the cleanliness of our rooms, and we have upgraded our procedures to ensure that all areas of the hotel are sanitized and safe for your stay.
Please do take the time to read this letter in full. Many long-standing practices here have had to change for the time being, in order to best meet current guidelines for safety.
For the time being, we will be offering in-room breakfasts. There will be many food options to select from, but it will be a somewhat more limited menu than our breakfast as offered in the dining room in the past. We will ask you to make your menu selection the day prior. Those will be delivered to your room within a timeframe of your choosing each morning. Staff will not enter your room, but will knock and place the tray at your door. We will continue to offer items for all dietary needs and restrictions, but we do ask that you notify us of those in advance of your stay.
Afternoon snacks and complimentary sodas will be delivered to your room, should you desire. This will be ordered in advance, similar to breakfast.
Each room has been newly outfitted with it’s own Keurig coffee machine. An electric teakettle is available upon request.
In partnership with Joe’s Coffee, each guest will receive a credit towards a purchase for each day you stay with us.
The dining area, check in counter and lounge inside the house will not be open, for now. Should the restrictions change, we will update this accordingly.
We have made some modifications to our outdoor lounge areas to increase seating capacity while maintaining or increasing distance between seats.
Ice will be delivered to your room each afternoon upon request and will be available in your in-room mini-fridge.
We continue to offer a fully stocked minibar in each room, with a wide selection of wine, beer, spirits and pre-mixed cocktails. We have partnered with Perry’s Fine Wines who offer complimentary delivery service of all their wines and spirits, as well as a variety of delicious provisions to complement your beverage of choice.
Arrival / Check in
Upon arrival you will be met outside the door adjacent to the check in desk. There is a doorbell, as well as our cell phone numbers posted on the door. The indoor check in desk will not be open.
We will charge your balance due to the credit card on file on the morning of your arrival. You will not need to present a credit card at check in.
We will not be able to accommodate early check ins or late check outs, as we will need the full vacancy time period to full clean and sanitize the each room. We can accommodate limited baggage storage on a first come basis.
Prior to your arrival your guestroom will be fully cleaned and sanitized according to CDC guidelines and updated hospitality industry standards. This includes sanitizing surfaces such as remote controls, alarm clocks, phones and all furnishings. Some items, such as hair dryers or irons will be sealed after cleaning.
We will be suspending daily housekeeping, for now and in general staff will not enter your room while you are staying with us. This is meant to reduce the contact between our staff and you, in order to keep everyone healthy and safe. We hope to be able to restore this service as soon as possible. If you require fresh towels those will be delivered to your room upon request. For extended stays greater than a week, housekeeping may be arranged on case-by-case basis upon request.
Staff will be wearing masks at all times when in common areas or guest rooms. All staff will be temperature checked daily, and no one with a temperature above the CDC recommended limit will be allowed to work.
All high-touch areas in common spaces, such as handrails, doorknobs, etc, will be sanitized frequently throughout the day.
Our Inn is lucky to have a separate entrance for each guest room, with no confined indoor corridors or stairways, which allows distancing and which minimizes the contact between guests. All in-room ventilation an air conditioning is independent of each other. As you know, Provincetown has so many exciting and fun outdoor activities, from renting a bike for a ride through the dunes, to a day on the beach, a walk through the Beech forest, a hike over the breakwater out to the lighthouse, a stroll thought the historic cemetery, or past the picturesque homes and gardens of the west end. We do not anticipate that there will be crowds on Commercial street, as there usually have been in the past, but the town is already abuzz with life and energy. Many of the shows and attractions are reformatting and planning for outdoor performances to allow more distance, drive-in performances at the monument, a car-free Commercial street with more outdoor dining opportunities.
We will be limiting the number of guestrooms made available initially to allow for distancing and increased time between check in and check out of a given room.
We respectfully ask that all guests wear a mask covering your mouth and nose while in common areas on the premises. This is for your safety, but also the safety of our other guests and staff. In addition, you should be aware that the town currently has a mandatory mask use policy for the central portion of Commercial street. If you have a fever, cough, or other respiratory symptoms, please respect the health and safety of our staff and your fellow guests, and do not travel. The CDC defines a fever as anything above 100.3°F (38°C).
We have installed a hand sanitizer station adjacent to the check in door, for your convenience. Please use it each time you re-enter the premises.
We will continue to provide beach towels, however we are not currently providing beach chairs or umbrellas.
As in the past, we cannot accommodate children under the age of 18. If you are traveling with children, we can make several recommendations for accommodations very nearby.
At this moment, many restaurants and stores in town are reopening with modifications. Restaurants are currently take out only, but are expected to reopen in the next few weeks with modifications for outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. We’d suggest you call ahead for reservations if you have your heart set on dining at a certain restaurant.
